Welcome to Highbank Stud

Highbank Stud is a rapidly developing stud farm situated in the Heart of Yorkshire, 2 minutes from Wetherby racecourse and 20 minutes away from York. We specialise in sales preparation, rehabilitation and thoroughbred breeding at the highest level.

Since our development in 2003, Highbank has strived to breed thoroughbred racehorses at the very highest level. This started with the purchases of mares Dhanyata (2nd Cheveley Park Stakes), Loch Jipp (1st Hillary Needler Trophy), and American-bred Sweet Hope, who despite modest beginnings in the UK went on to win the Endine Handicap (Grade 3) at Delaware park before being placed second in the Grade 1 Darley Test Stakes in the U.S.A.

Highbank also purchased Malibu Moon mare Miss Delila as a yearling, and despite showing limited ability as a racehorse Delila has proven her worth as a broodmare with 7 winners from 7 runners and 7 foals of racing age. The most recent of these is the exciting Invincible Spirit filly Beauty Filly, a convincing winner of her only start to date at Yarmouth and held in high regard by trainer William Haggas. The pick of Miss Delilas current progeny would be a 2013 filly by Kyllachy named Ashadihan, who won her maiden convincingly at the first time of asking before finishing second in a competitive renewal of the Group 3 Albany Stakes. At 3, Ashadihan claimed the Group 3 Chartwell fillies stakes at Lingfield before running creditably in the Group 1 Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Group 1 Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket. Miss Delila currently has no yearling but a colt foal at foot by Zoffany and is in foal to the exciting young Muhaarar.

Highbank has acheived some exceptional results in the sales ring since 2003, including top lots at three individual sales. These include the Invincible Spirit Colt out of Loch Jipp who sold for 360,000 gns at the 2016 Tattersalls Craven Breeze up sale ; a full sister to the aforementioned lot who sold as top filly at the 2014 Tattersalls Craven Breeze up at 450,000 gns, and the Manduro colt Bremner who was sold as top lot for 280,000 gns at the 2013 Horses in Training sale. Other notable results include Chasewater and Mythical Madness, two progeny of Dubawi who sold for 100,000 and 320,000gns respectively at the 2012 Tattersalls Yearling sale. Highbank also sold subsequent novice winner Beauty Filly for 280,000 gns to Blandford Bloodstock at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling sale. She won her only start to date and is a very exciting prospect for the 2018 season.
