Eaton Square makes Successful Debut
Eaton Square, a colt by Invincible Spirit out of Highbank mare Loch Jipp (Belong to Me) successfully won on his debut despite clear signs of greenness.
The 360,000 GNS purchase was slowly into stride in the 6 furlong event at Nottingham and showed clear signs of inexperience and greenness throughout the early part of the race. Eaton Square had been keeping tabs on the leader Rag Tatter who had shown serious improvement on his initial outing, moving into contention at the furlong marker and getting the better of a prolonged dual under the hands and heels of Nicky Mackay to win by a neck, with Cheveley Park owned Vaulted a further half length away in third.
Despite Eaton failing to set the turf on fire on his first start it was clear the strapping son of Invincible Spirit would come on in leaps and bounds for his first racecourse outing. He currently holds an entry in the Group 2 Champagne Stakes at Doncaster and it would be no surprise to see him line up there given the abundance of potential that was evident on his debut success.
Eaton Square is the third foal out of Listed winning 2 year old Loch Jipp. The daughter of Belong to Me has already produced 450,000 Gns purchase Hayba (who is in foal to Harbour Watch), and is now in foal to Cheveley Park stalwart Dutch Art.
